The "Luxemburger Wort" reports about the Barn Ellange project.

It is a small but very fine remodelling project that will be realised by all those involved with a great deal of sensitivity and a sustainable approach. The traditional newspaper "Wort" has dedicated an entire double-page to the construction project in the village centre of Ellange (municipality of Mondorf-les-Bains).

The historic building "A Kréiesch" dates back to 1822 and is being remodelled and renovated on behalf of the municipality of Mondorf-les-Bains. Demolition work began in October 2023.

In future, the barn will house a restaurant on the ground floor and two social housing units on the upper floor. The outside area of the property will be redesigned accordingly with parking spaces and green areas. The old building is a structure worth preserving. The main façades and the outline of the building will be maintained. Where possible, materials used in the barn will be carefully removed, temporarily stored and reinstalled, such as the floor slabs and ceiling beams. The municipality wants to consciously protect the typical character of the historically grown structure so as not to change the urbanistic character of the village centre. The INPA (Institut national pour le patrimoine architectural) was involved in the planning in an advisory function in order to benefit from their experience in dealing with historic buildings.

A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, as well as a gas thermal system. The municipality is assuming its social responsibility in the context of this project by creating two attractive affordable flats under the roof.

The municipality acquired the property together with the barn at the end of 2014.
